| Chinese Agricultural Experts Arrived in Bauchi State,Nigeria |

Nigeria Guardian Newspaper dated on 16th Aug., 2005 said that a Chinese agricultural expert team headed by Mr.Kang Charizhou had arrived in Bauchi state to teach its farmers cultivation of Chinese millet. During the meeting with Chinese agricultural experts ,the Manager of Bauchi State Agricultural Development Programme , Mr.Abdullahi disclosed that the state will introduce Chinese millet to farmers in Bauchi state to boost farm yield and quality of grains because of that the Chinese millet could withstand harsh weather while also producing high yield per tonne per hectare. Mr.Abdullahi said that a pilot farm had already commenced for the crop, which would be distributed to households after harvest to ascertain its acceptability as stable food before the general introduction to farmers. He commended the Chinese experts for introducing the millet and said that their arrival in the state over the months had brought some revolution in the agricultural sector.
Mr.Abdullahi also listed the introduction of local technology by the Chinese to boost orchard, fish and poultry farming in the state and solicited for more Chinese to agricultural and other related sectors in the state.
The meeting attended by the Special Adviser to President Olusegun Obasanjo on food security, Mrs.Madinet Adetunji said that the Federal Government attached priority attention to China under the South-South co-operation, due to the peculiarity of the two countries known for leading populations. She advised Nigeria staff attached to the Chinese experts to use the opportunities to learn and prepare for a possible take-over whenever the Chinese departed.
The leader of the Chinese team, Mr.Kang Charizhou, said that he was satisfied with the hospitality, support and co-operation.
It was reported by The Guardian Newspaper that a special Haosa language lesson was held for the Chinese experts to enable them to speak the language and enhance their communication ability.
